Jane: Building the Operating System for Allied Health

We are thrilled to announce our investment in Jane.

Allied health professionals – physiotherapists, chiropractors, mental health practitioners, massage therapists, naturopaths, and others – play a critical role in the global healthcare system. These practitioners often operate independently or in small clinics, and while their clinical work is sophisticated, the tools available to run their businesses have historically been antiquated and fragmented.

Jane was founded to change that and today we’re thrilled to announce our investment into the company.

The Operating System for Allied Health

Built by co-founders Ali Taylor (a clinic owner) and Trevor Johnston (a developer), Jane was born out of a real need in Ali’s clinic: a modern, intuitive platform that could manage appointments, charting, billing, and patient communication in one integrated system.

Small business owners are busy people – they prefer to purchase goods and services from a single vendor and allied health practitioners are no exception. At Tidemark, we’ve observed countless times that small businesses crave a single point of accountability, leading to the consolidation of technology stacks into one or two core systems. In healthcare, these systems of record tend to be the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for the “front office” and the Practice Management System (PMS) for the “back office”.

As an all-in-one operating system, Jane does both in an integrated fashion, with functionality that spans critical operational (booking, staff & patient scheduling, reporting / analytics), clinical (charting, documentation), and financial (payments, billing & insurance) workflows. Our north star is investing in great businesses where we see strong opportunities for category leadership: companies that have high durability, high defensibility, and multiple growth levers derived from control point dominance. As a clear “control point”, Jane sits at the heart of what allied health professionals do every day, streamlining workflows so that practitioners can spend less time on admin and more time with their patients.

A Practitioner-Centric Platform and Engaged Community

Jane also exemplifies what we look for in founder-led businesses: a product-first culture, deep empathy for the customer, and a commitment to long-term stewardship. This focus and the company’s mission to “help the helpers” has created a flywheel of customer advocacy & referral-led growth that has propelled Jane forward. What began as a solution for a single clinic has grown, largely through word-of-mouth, into a platform that supports many thousands of clinics across North America and beyond.

Jane is beloved by its users. It is a deeply trusted brand in the allied health community, with a strong ethos of support, education, and care. Whether through its vibrant user community, thoughtful content, or responsive customer support, Jane is building a movement around empowering practitioners to thrive both clinically and professionally.

And while they are building for and with the allied health ecosystem, Ali and Trevor have also become active contributors to Tidemark’s vertical SaaS community. Our journey with Jane began through a trusted referral by Jack Newton, CEO of Clio and a Tidemark Fellow. That first conversation revealed an immediate shared language around vertical SaaS and the power of building connections within it. By the time we formalized our investment, it already felt like a natural extension of a shared journey.

Ali and Trevor have scaled Jane thoughtfully, profitably, and with the humility and curiosity we admire in all great builders. As Jane continues to serve this essential sector of the economy and extend its product surface area, we are thrilled to support the company on its journey and to welcome them to the Tidemark family.
